A Few Of Our Successful Flight Delay Compensation Claims Against Jet2
We took Jet2 to the Supreme Court and won
Bott and Co’s Supreme Court victory in the case of Huzar v Jet2 is the reason that airlines can no longer use ‘technical problems’ as a defence against flight delay compensation.
Ronald Huzar came to us looking for help after he took Jet2 to court over a flight delay himself and lost. Our flight delay compensation lawyers agreed with Mr Huzar that he was entitled to delayed flight compensation, and took his case to the Court of Appeal.
When the Court of Appeal ruled in Mr Huzar’s favour, Jet2 appealed the decision and the case had to go to the Supreme Court. We won at the Supreme Court too, creating binding case law that benefitted not only Mr Huzar but millions of passengers in England and Wales.
Bott and Co stopped airlines delaying passengers even longer in Allen v Jet2
In 2015 Jet2 and a number of other airlines asked the courts to put tens of thousands of flight delay claims on hold. If Jet2 had won, thousands of passengers would have had their claims put on hold for a further eight months.
Fortunately Bott and Co won the case of Allen v Jet2 on behalf of Kim Allen and thousands of other delayed passengers. Ms Allen said:
“I’m delighted with the victory. I know it isn’t just important for me but for thousands of other people who are in the same position as me. We’ve all been kept waiting for so long but I’m really happy with the decision. Hopefully now it’s time for the airlines to pay us what the law says they should.”
Couple receives flight compensation after Jet2 overloads plane with fuel
We recovered €2500 for a married couple who suffered a flight delay of nearly nine hours, when Jet2 overloaded a plane with too much fuel.
The plane had to have some of the fuel removed at the airport and undergo compulsory safety checks due to the airline’s mistake. Despite this, when the couple tried to claim flight delay compensation from Jet2, they were told that the delay had been caused by ‘extraordinary circumstances’.
Bott and Co took over the couple’s claim for them, and recovered €250 each from Jet2 for the long delay.
