Bott and Co is continuing to work on your behalf as the motor finance claims process progresses.
One issue currently causing problems is where more than one firm has been instructed to act for the same customer.
This can leave lenders unsure about which firm is authorised to deal with the claim and, importantly, who they should pay.
Bott and Co is working with other leading law firms to help resolve this issue and make sure customers have a clear choice about who represents them.
Some lenders have told the FCA that they are ready to begin settling claims. Resolving cases where multiple firms are acting is one of the issues that needs to be addressed before those payments can be made.
If your lender contacts you
If you receive communication directly from your lender about your motor finance claim, please contact Bott and Co before accepting any offer or agreeing to anything.
Here’s what you should do:
1. Send us any offer you receive
If your lender makes you an offer, forward it to us before accepting it. We can then review the information and advise you on the position in relation to your claim.
2. If you’re asked to choose which firm should represent you
Make sure you understand which firms are currently acting for you before making your decision. If you have instructed Bott and Co, please contact us so we can help you understand what you need to do.
3. Be open about any other firms you’ve instructed
If you have previously instructed another firm about your motor finance claim, please tell us. It is important that any potential duplication is identified and dealt with as quickly as possible.
Two things we need you to do
Keep your contact details up to date
Please make sure we have your current:
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Postal address
If any of your contact details have changed, please let us know Motorfinanceclaims@bottonline.co.ukĀ
Keeping your details up to date means we can contact you promptly when we have information about your claim.
Don’t instruct another firm about the same claim
If Bott and Co is already acting for you, there is no need to instruct another firm about the same motor finance claim.
Having more than one firm involved can create additional administration and may make it more difficult to establish who is authorised to act on your behalf.
What else do you need to do now?
Nothing further at this stage.
We will continue to work on your claim and will contact you if we need anything from you.
Please don’t worry if you haven’t heard anything further yet. The motor finance claims process is continuing to develop, and we will provide you with further information as it becomes available.
