Supreme Court Delivers Landmark Judgement
The Supreme Court has today, Friday 1st August, ruled on the landmark mis-sold motor finance test case. They have ruled that car finance companies are not liable for hidden commission payments in car finance schemes.
The Decision
The outcome means that lenders appears to have avoided potentially having to pay compensation to millions of drivers.
The Supreme court sided Mr Johnson and awarded compensation due to the circumstances in his case.
Lord Reed says the court upholds Mr Johnson’s claim “that the relationship between him and the finance company was unfair”.
