Top 10 benefits of being an apprentice
Historically, apprenticeships have been perceived as the route for those who are not ‘academic enough’ for university.
In our experience that is certainly not the case anymore – we find increasingly that the most academic candidates are considering their options and university often isn’t the right way to go.
Apprenticeships have come a long way in recent years and with the new apprenticeship levy from the government that came into effect in April 2017, plans are underway to fund a further 3 million apprenticeships by 2020.
We’ve listed some of the key benefits you can get from taking on an apprenticeship:
1. Earn a salary
2. Hands on training: learn the right skills for the role you’re in
3. Progression opportunities
4. Paid holidays
5. A nationally-recognised qualification
6. Support from work and college
7. Good career prospects
8. Make new friends
9. No student loan – say goodbye to student debt
10. Learn at your own pace with one-to-one support from our industry experts
The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) is becoming a popular alternative route into law due to its flexibility and cost. This is because CILEx offers a unique route to becoming a qualified lawyer without the need for a law degree.
Bott and Co also works with CILEx Law School for distance learning students studying law through the apprenticeship programme.
Law graduates and those with other non-law degrees have an opportunity to qualify as a lawyer through CILEx. It has a variety of qualification levels with entry levels staggered dependant on any qualifications already held.
