Adam Cooper began his Law career in 2010 at a small law firm, initially dealing with new claims and progressed to deal with Ministry of Justice (MOJ) Portal cases, before taking the step into Litigation at a top Legal 200 firm in Old Trafford, where he dealt solely with litigated files.
He joined Bott and Co in 2015 dealing with Portal and Non-Portal claims in the Road Traffic Accidents (RTA) department and is now a hybrid fee earner working on MoJ Portal cases and Fast Track claims.
An interest in cycle claims saw him join the specialist cyclist team. As a team leader he provides both supervision and training to members of the MOJ Portal team.
As one of the team leaders within the Portal team, he deals with all aspects of claims, from inception through to completion, and as part of the cycle team he regularly deals with liability issues arising from cyclists being knocked from their bike.
“I have a particular interest in the cyclist cases as cycling accidents are different from any other kind of personal injury claim. They have generally sustained quite nasty injuries and therefore there is a great deal of satisfaction when you get a decent result.”
For Adam, securing a good settlement for a client – particularly on the cyclist cases, is the most rewarding part of his job.
He is extremely conscientious and constantly seeks and delivers the best outcome for his clients.
“There is a tendency for the Defendant to blame the cyclist and say they have done something wrong. People do not seem to understand that someone on a bicycle is a lot more vulnerable and therefore greater care should be taken to check for cyclists before making any manoeuvres. I take a great deal of satisfaction of ‘winning’ a case where the
Defendant has been particularly adamant that they have done nothing wrong.”
Unfortunately, many road accidents result in injuries. Even less serious injuries, such as whiplash, can cause a great deal of pain and take a long time to settle.
However Bott and Co experts will work hard and ensure that your case is handled professionally and efficiently from start to finish.
Away from the office Adam enjoys socialising and going to Old Trafford where he is a season ticket holder.
