Michael McGarry is one of Bott and Co’s longest qualified solicitors and uses his considerable experience across the spectrum of personal injury cases to achieve the best results for his clients.
Mike obtained a 2:1 Law degree from the University of Lancaster and qualified as a solicitor in 1993. In his early career he practised criminal defence and family law.
His experience as a criminal trial advocate gave him a valuable grounding and insight into the law of evidence and constructing cases presented at Court. Specialising in family work, his particular forte was advising in respect of complicated ancillary relief cases arising out of separation and divorce.
In 1997, he began to specialise exclusively in personal injury law.
He joined Bott and Co in 2001 from a large Manchester city centre practice where he dealt with a mixed caseload of road traffic, employer’s liability and public liability claims.
Throughout his time at Bott and Co, his caseload has included complex compensation claims including those involving permanent disability arising out of road traffic accidents, particularly motorcycle accidents, and also complex employer’s liability and public liability claims.
Mike has a particular interest in catastrophic injury claims, including those involving brain injuries, and the far-reaching effects of those injuries on the claimant and their families who often bear the brunt of caring for the injured party after their accident.
He has developed an extensive network of contacts including counsel, medical experts and rehabilitation experts and providers to ensure early identification of care and rehabilitation needs and intervention to provide support when it is most needed.
Over the years he has also developed a particular interest in the analysis and presentation of complicated financial losses claims. He is the go-to person at Bott and Co where past and future losses claims involve the analysis of business trading accounts and tax returns/assessments in order to establish pre–accident trading and income patterns as a basis for pleading ongoing/future loss of earnings/loss of profits claims.
He acts for seriously injured claimants across the country, and recognises the value of face-to-face contact with his clients. He will always travel to meet them when necessary as part of the preparation of their case or for conferences with barristers and/or medical and other experts.
Outside work Michael is a keen motor sports enthusiast, and can often be found trackside watching endurance and sports car racing.
