Bott and Co has picked up a prestigious legal award for their unique no-win no-fee service recovering delayed flight compensation from airlines on behalf of thousands of air passengers across the globe.
Bott and Co were recognised in the Excellence in Business Development and Innovation category at the Law Society legal awards exactly a year on from the landmark clarification of EU Regulation 261/2004 on October 23rd 2012 that paved the way for millions of air passengers to recover billions of pounds in compensation for delayed flights.
The innovative service is based almost exclusively online and electronically with a free flight delay claim calculator offering instant advice to passengers when they input their flight details for any flight delayed or cancelled in the last six years.
We’ve had some incredible successes over the last few months on behalf of passengers who had been ignored, fobbed off, or refused compensation.
With airlines failing to pay out on many valid claims or forcing passengers to take the case to court, Bott and Co have been inundated with instructions for their no-win no-fee service and have generated more than 9,000 clients in just eight months after launching in February 2013, recovering compensation for their 2000th client on the anniversary of the landmark ruling on Regulation 261.
Passengers are now reaping the benefits of the regulation changes with UK airlines improving their punctuality by 15% and tour operators by 40% over the last year based on figures from flight data specialists EUclaim.co.uk.
However, with an estimated 220 million air passengers flying in and out of the UK in 2012 and approximately 1.8 million with valid claims under Regulation 261 last year alone, there is still in excess of £2bn of compensation due to passengers for delayed and cancelled flights for the last six years.
Coby Benson, Solicitor at Bott and Co and winner of the Modern Law Rising Star award for his work in co-founding the delayed flight service, commented: “We’ve had some incredible successes over the last few months on behalf of passengers who had been ignored, fobbed off, or refused compensation by airlines and came to us for help. Litigating against multi-national corporations is not an easy task but we’re determined to continue standing up for consumer rights.”
