On Saturday members of staff at Bott and Co participated in the Jodrell Bank Summer Sportive in Cheshire. The course offered three different lengths – 30 miles, 65 miles and 100 miles.
Legal manager Tony Tierney and lawyer Dan Boon cycled 100 miles, whilst Bott and Co Managing Partner, Paul Hinchliffe and Senior Partner David Bott cycled 65 miles. Claire Walsh who is PA to Paul and David cycled 30 miles with IT manager Susan Luya.
The event comes just two weeks after over 20 Bott and Co staff members cycled 62 miles from Manchester to Blackpool for charity in which the team raised an incredible £5,000 for the Spinal Injuries Association and Cancer Research UK.
The atmosphere amongst the staff was that it was a great day with some decent weather.
Sue Luya commented: “Some of us had done the Manchester to Blackpool 62 miles a few weeks before so I approached this 30 mile event with a fairly blasé attitude. That was a mistake! I started one hill and grumbled and then hit the hills up through Alderley Edge. Those are killers and they set the tone the rest of the ride. I never knew there were that many hills around here! However I’m already looking for the next event so they can’t have been that bad!
It’s a really good way to get to know the people you work with and the shared “aches and pains” conversations the next day are often quite funny!”
Paul Hinchliffe commented: “More and more staff members are getting involved in cycling. The event on 14th July and the event on Saturday are prime examples of the cycling bug that is going round the law firm. I particularly enjoyed taking part in the ride – although it was much more hilly and you had to use a lot more energy compared to cycling from Manchester to Blackpool. Thankfully the weather held up and that certainly helped.”
