To qualify for criminal injury compensation you must have reported the assault to police in the first instance, you must be examined by a GP on at least two occasions and you must take at least   six weeks to recover.  If you have lost a close relative as a result of a fatal criminal injury, it is possible other family members to make a claim for criminal injury compensation.
