Susan Luya
IT & Information Manager
Susan is our IT & Information Manager whose role includes developing, maintaining and integrating through the management of the IT department, our highly effective and much depended upon IT systems.
She oversees the day to day running of all IT aspects of the firm and also the strategic plans for the IT department each year. Her work involves managing a complex integrated network which provides users with efficient and comprehensive access to our systems both locally and remotely via VPN’s, VOIP and IPhone configurations. Susan’s role also covers that of Information Manager and in this role she writes and configures for automatic release the firm’s MI reports; standardises IT, Data Protection and other office policies; and constantly monitors the integrity of data.
Outside of work, Susan enjoys her family life and surrounds herself with her own and her partner’s children whenever possible, as well as her pets. She loves walking in the lakes and being outdoors and close to nature as well as reading, and watching competitive sports.
Career history
Susan joined our firm at the beginning of Bott and Company in 2001 and has either developed or project managed each individual installation, software development and integration of the IT products on which we are so heavily reliant.
She initially wrote and developed our Case Management System, project managed the integration of that system with an email, faxing and messaging system for which the firm won the Best Use of Solcase award in 2006, and has installed and implemented the firms use of Crystal reports, Digitial Dictation, HR software, and the many other applications upon which the firm is reliant. She has attended Prince2, ITIL and other Project Management courses and has been instrumental in applying many procedural changes to the operational aspects of the firm.
Although born in the UK, Susan lived in South Africa for 23 years and during her working years in that country she was involved in PI in firms acting for both Claimant and Defendant. She returned to the UK in 1999 and spent one year working for voluntary organisations.
